Brant Brown joined Westmount Realty Capital in 2015 as Chief Financial Officer, and in 2016 was promoted to the dual role of Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer. Brant Brown is responsible for the day-today operations of Westmount. He has considerable experience leading financial operations and working to safeguard investor interests. Areas of specific focus are structured finance and accounting, capital markets, real estate investment performance, investor relations, information technology, marketing and corporate governance and planning. Brant is Chair of Westmount’s Operating Committee as well as a member of the Investment Committee
Mr. Brown began his career working with endowments and large institutional investors at Merit Energy, a private energy company with over $6 billion in portfolio investments. After Merit, he turned his professional interests towards real estate and private equity. He spent the next decade working with Fortress Private Equity (specifically its Mortgage outfit, Nationstar Mortgage), Invesco Real Estate, and Ashford Hospitality. In total, he was directly involved with or led the financial analysis and governance for over $30 billion in institutional real estate and fixed income investments.
Brant was recently appointed to the board of directors for The Real Estate Council (TREC). As the largest and most influential organization of its kind in Texas, TREC represents more than 2,000 individual members and 600 companies, which make up 95 percent of the commercial real estate businesses in North Texas. Brant sits on the board of directors for the SMU-Cox Folsom Institute for Real Estate. Brant serves in an advisory role as part of the FEI Real Estate CFO Working Group. Brant is also a member of the ULI North Texas Multifamily Council. He has been actively involved with the National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries (NCREIF), Urban Land Institute (ULI), NAIOP, The Real Estate Council (TREC), Financial Executives International (FEI), the Texas Society of CPAs, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Brant is a CPA and has his MBA from Southern Methodist University.
