Jack has 17 years of real estate development and planning experience in the private and public sector ranging from providing advisory services to managing and negotiating large, complex public/private development projects.
Jack currently leads the development negotiations and community planning process for a 28-acre waterfront portion of Pier 70, one of the most intact historic industrial complexes in the Western US. Previously, Jack managed the redevelopment planning for the reuse of former Naval Station Treasure Island, negotiating successful agreements with a private land developer and affordable housing consortium, as well as a historic agreement with the federal government for the transfer of the property. Jack has provided high level real estate consulting as Principal at Sylvan Consulting and CB Richard Ellis, worked at the Emeryville Housing and Economic Development Agency and the non-profit affordable housing entity Resources for Community Development. He won a national award for research on the effectiveness of publicly funding professional sports stadiums as an economic development strategy — which received national and international press coverage — and served a Fulbright Fellowship in Barcelona, Spain investigating the impact of the 1992 Olympics.
