Matt Darin is Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Grassroots Cannabis. Since its inception in 2014, Grassroots has grown to become the largest privately-held multi-state operator in the United States. The company is headquartered in Chicago and has grown to 1,000 employees with more than 70 licenses to grow, process, and dispense cannabis in 12 states. As COO, Matt is involved in all areas of the company including manufacturing, retail, finance, sales, marketing, compliance, real estate, and regulatory matters.
Matt is also a Founder and Principal with Frontline Real Estate Partners. Frontline is now celebrating its 10 year anniversary and is one of the most active commercial real estate companies in the Midwest. Matt has managed the company’s operations overseeing asset management of the company’s portfolio of owned and third party properties, managing the due diligence and underwriting process for acquisitions, maintaining relationships with debt and equity providers, and sourcing acquisition and advisory opportunities. Matt has acquired a broad spectrum of commercial properties with a focus on value-add and distressed opportunities across various asset types including retail, industrial, and mixed-use.
Prior to founding Frontline, Matt was a Vice President with Hilco Real Estate and a Senior Associate with PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Matt graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science with honors in Accounting and Bachelor of Science with honors in Business Administration – Management Information Systems. He is a Certified Public Accountant. A native of the Chicagoland area, he currently resides in the area with his wife Nikki and their three children.
