Jack C. Hedge is the Director of Cargo and Industrial Real Estate for the Port of Los Angeles, the nation’s leading container port. The Port of Los Angeles is a landlord seaport, covering 7500 acres of land and water, with more than 300 leaseholders.
In this role, Hedge is responsible for all Port real estate-related activities, including lease negotiations, property management, land use issues, land acquisitions and dispositions, market rent studies and adjustments, leasing, property management and asset management policy development, including those related to the maintenance of Port buildings and properties. His team is responsible for lease agreements including facilities for cargo handling (container, liquid bulk, dry bulk, breakbulk, automobile, and warehouse) that generate approximately $400 million in annual revenue.
Appointed to his current position in April 2012, Hedge has more than 20 years of experience in asset acquisition, development, operations and management, and finance in the port, energy and utility industries.
Hedge previously served as the Director of Real Estate and Asset Management for the Port of Tacoma, Wash. While in Tacoma, he raised Port revenue generated from owned assets by nearly 30 percent during his first year as director. He was also responsible for all Port-owned real property, an annual budget in excess of $7 million, and revenues in excess of $85 million per year. Hedge holds a bachelor’s degree in international marketing from Texas A&M University and is a Certified Port Executive™.
A Long Beach resident, Hedge currently serves on the Board of St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation in Long Beach and on the event committee for Pathways, a charity supporting victims of domestic violence in the greater Long Beach area. He is a former board member of several organizations in Washington, including MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital and Puyallup Fair and Rodeo, both in Puyallup, Wash., and the Civil Service Commission and Economic Development Corporation of Pierce County in Tacoma, Wash.
