Jeff Lanaghan
IDI Logistics
As Market Officer, Jeff leads the leasing and asset management efforts and oversees capital development and capital recycling work for the Chicago region. Jeff is also responsible for sales and marketing analysis as well as acquisitions and dispositions, management of third party property management, and interaction with clients and brokers. In his tenure of more than 25 years with IDI Logistics, Jeff has developed and managed the design and construction of projects totaling more than 15 million square feet (approximate market value of $900 million) ranging from mid-rise office buildings to distribution warehouses.
Jeff joined IDI Logistics in 1991 as an Assistant Development Manager with a focus on the construction and development of speculative facilities. In 1994, he was promoted to Development Manager, which added land infrastructure oversight and local municipality liaison to his responsibilities. Jeff continued to look for new responsibilities when in 2001 he became the Vice President of Development for the northern half of Chicago which expanded into oversight of the Salt Lake region. In 2008, he assumed leasing responsibilities for that market segment, becoming VP – Development and Leasing. Jeff accepted an expanded challenge by taking over the leasing responsibilities for the entire Chicago and Salt Lake regions in 2013, and again agreed to a shifted roll when in 2015 he became Vice President of Asset Management. His roll shifted once more when Jeff was appointed to his current position of Market Officer in 2017.
Prior to joining IDI Logistics, Jeff worked as a Project Engineer/Project Manager for Elliot Homebuilder’s, a suburban Chicago custom home builder. There he oversaw all aspects of construction of multiple homes and client relations. He also worked at Massman Construction, a bridge builder and refurbisher, as an Assistant Project Engineer. In total, Jeff has worked in construction/development positions for more than 30 years.
Jeff holds B.S. degrees in Architectural Engineering and Urban Land Planning from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. He is an active member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), is an associate member of the Association of Industrial Real Estate Brokers (AIRE) and the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR). Along with being president of the local Ducks Unlimited Chapter (wetlands and waterfowl conservation), Jeff is active in his church and regularly volunteers with Habitat for Humanity. He also participates in numerous IDI Logistics action committees, and has chaired several Construction and Asset Manager meetings.
Away from work, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife, Helene, and their daughter, Nicolette, and hunting with his friends. He is an avid sports fan, following the St. Louis Cardinals, the Chicago Bulls and the University of Kansas Jayhawks.
