Sara Queen joined Mapletree as Head of Operations and Asset Management for the United States in 2018, a new position in the company. Mapletree is a leading real estate development, investment and capital management company headquartered in Singapore, with approximately $35 Billion invested worldwide. The US portfolio is approximately $3.5 Billion and growing.
Prior to Mapletree, Sara spent nearly 11 years at Brookfield, where she headed Asset Management for the U.S. office portfolio (approximately 45 million square feet). She was integral in the smooth integration of the $7.2 billion Trizec acquisition, streamlining and optimizing leasing and operations efforts. She was the chief company representative and liaison with co-investors in the U.S. Office Fund, the Downtown Los Angeles Fund, the DC Core Fund, as well as other joint venture partnerships. Furthermore, Sara was responsible for the company’s occupancy profile and its annual strategic planning/budgeting. She also oversaw the Lease Administration group and served on the Global Asset Management and the Executive Committee for the U.S. Office Division.
Prior to joining Brookfield, Sara was Senior Vice President at Clarion Partners, the New York City-based real estate management and advisory services firm, in charge of managing a $1.9 billion portfolio of commercial properties. This included 35 office, industrial, retail and multifamily assets located nationwide.
Previously, Sara worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance, and spent five years with the company in roles of increasing responsibility in the investment and asset management groups.
Sara has an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a BA cum laude in Economics and History from Wellesley College. She was the WX (New York Women Executives in Real Estate) 2017 Woman of the Year. Sara was also named to the prestigious 40 under 40 list by Crain’s NY Business (2008); a Woman of Distinction by the Girl Scout Council of Greater NY and a 2009 and 2014 Woman of Influence by Real Estate Forum. Sara is a member of the Board of Directors for Solar One, Friends of Governors Island, and Trinity Church Wall Street, where she oversees their $4B+ real estate portfolio.
Sara also is an adjunct professor at Columbia University’s Master of Real Estate Development Program, teaching courses on Commercial Leasing and Asset Management.
