Investing In Multifamily: The Great Class Divide

In recent years, there has been a significant shift in where investors are allocating capital in multifamily. As the market for Class A apartments has become increasingly more competitive, many investors have turned their focus to often overlooked Class B and Class C assets in the pursuit of higher returns. Today investors are looking beyond the major metropolitan areas that previously dominated Texas multifamily in favor of smaller cities and towns. Hear the most active investors discuss what factors are influencing their investment strategies.

1:40pm - 2:10pm:

The Economics of Multifamily: Understanding The Bigger Picture

Hear from leading experts as they discuss the key economic drivers such as job creation, wage growth, shifting demographics and other macroeconomic trends impacting the multifamily sector.

Looking Beyond The Amenities Arms Race: Attracting and Retaining Tenants

Attracting and retaining tenants remains the top priority in multifamily. Today the pursuit of tenants has resulted in an unprecedented proliferation in the number of amenities and services being offered. Some have begun to question where this “amenities arms race” is headed and how truly sustainable it is. Shifting demographics (millennials and empty nesters) continue to play a major role in determining what tenants want and need. Leading experts talk candidly about the role customer experience, cutting-edge technology, and design trends play in determining where renters choose to live and stay.

3:55pm – 4:45pm:

Chasing and Financing Deals In Multifamily

While the multifamily market remains strong, the number of deals has dropped significantly from previous highs. Given the current climate, financiers and dealmakers have become increasingly more creative and resourceful in their pursuit of deals. What are the hindrances and obstacles in financing multifamily today? How has the tightening of credit impacted the industry? Is the perception of oversupply in some markets an obstacle to getting deals financed? What types of deals are attractive today and why? Learn what it takes to get deals done in today’s market.

4:45pm – 5:35pm:

Market Outlook & Development Round-Up: The Four Metros

With the major metropolitan markets in Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio primed for growth in 2018, there is also great concern about the impact of rising costs and the threat of overbuilding. Top developers and major stakeholders shine the spotlight on regional markets. What’s next in the pipeline? Is the current rate of growth and expansion sustainable? Where are the next big opportunities? In addition, how is the pressing need for more affordable housing options being met?

It is critical that we all take the emerging challenge presented by the Coronavirus seriously. We should remain calm and await more information to be provided by health experts. We ask those planning to attend conferences take the necessary precautions to help prevent the spread of the virus. We will look for ways to help educate those in the CRE industry and work with our event venue partners to create the safest environment possible. Some of the recommendations to protect yourself offered by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) include:
  • Frequently wash hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer
