1:55pm - 2:35pm:

Preparing Your Business and Portfolio for What’s Next

As we head into the 11th year of the expansion cycle, what do CRE players need to know about preparing their businesses and portfolios for a downturn? What if anything, are CRE players doing differently than they did in 2008?

2:35pm – 2:50pm:

Networking Break

2:50pm - 3:30pm:

Urban vs. Suburban: Spotlight on Development Trends

There’s no denying that rising labor and construction costs, coupled with soaring land prices and taxes, have caused developers to rethink how and where they’re building. What are the driving forces affecting development and redevelopment decisions among all property types? Do Chicago-area developers still see development right over the border in WI or IN creating competition?

3:30pm – 3:45pm:

Networking Break

3:45pm - 4:25pm:

Which Amenities Do Tenants Want and Really USE?

Hear industry experts and tenants discuss the latest trends regarding which amenities are really being used in all property types. How are millennials, Gen Z and baby boomers shaping these trends? How are developers and designers dealing with any changes in current and future developments?

4:25pm - 5:00pm:

Deal Flow Across the Capital Stack: It’s Complicated

Real estate players across the buying, lending and sales platforms will address critical issues including where investors are finding higher yields; public vs. private REITS; preferred investment strategies; the role foreign investors are playing; the growth of non-bank lenders, and diversification into nontraditional property types.

It is critical that we all take the emerging challenge presented by the Coronavirus seriously. We should remain calm and await more information to be provided by health experts. Clearly, there needs to be an awareness of the potential impact on the CRE industry from an economic perspective. We are watching the rapidly evolving situation to determine the best approach to our business and prepare plans based on information and recommendations from health officials. We ask those planning to attend conferences take the necessary precautions to help prevent the spread of the virus. We will look for ways to help educate those in the CRE industry and work with our event venue partners to create the safest environment possible. Some of the recommendations to protect yourself offered by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) include:
  • Frequently wash hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer
  • Avoid touching your nose, eyes or mouth without first washing your hands
  • Use tissue when sneezing or coughing and dispose of immediately
  • Avoid close contact with individuals showing signs of fever or persistent cough
If you don’t feel well take all of the above steps and
  • Seek the advice of your doctor and call ahead for appointments
  • Refrain from unnecessary contact with family members or pets
  • Stay home or work remotely
